We are a 501c3 organization dedicated to helping children. We do this by providing brand new hoodies to homeless and needy schoolchildren in our local schools. This is the beginning of our 14th school year, and we have provided over 37,000 hoodies so far to over 75 schools. We hope to pass the 40,000 mark this school year.
Why is it called the Boo Boo Cow Foundation? Boo Boo is my miracle cow. She was paralyzed giving birth and then attacked by buzzards. We were told she would never stand, walk or give birth again and after sitting on her knees for 4 weeks and doing everything for her, she stood again and a year later gave us a beautiful calf. She has had 8 babies since this happened. I promised that if Boo Boo survived that I would find a way to pay it forward.
At that time I was the co-chair of the Business Women's Council for the Port Orange-South Daytona Chamber of Commerce and our charity for Christmas was donating sweatshirts to a couple of schools. I found out that every school has a closet or a room where they keep clothes for children in need. That particular year it was cold out and there was a need for sweatshirts. So I decided to set up a charitable organization to donate sweatshirts and name it after Boo Boo. So the Boo Boo Cow Foundation was formed.
How can you help? The best way is by donating money. We can buy a sweatshirt for $6, that's less than one business lunch. We also accept new and used sweatshirts. We prefer hoodies as they keep their heads warm too but will accept crew necks too. We also have a group of ladies knitting beanie caps for us, the kids love those. Mr. Williams does too as he is modeling for us.
